Food, Fuel, and Renewable Power: win-win solutions for national security, for the local economy, and for the environment.

Through construction (pictures) of an oil extrusion and biodiesel production facility in the Four Corners area of southwest Colorado, San Juan Bioenergy (SJB) promotes a strong agricultural sector, improved national security, air quality benefits, and continued access to renewable fuels for a sustainable economy.

dcp_0218.JPGSJB plans to initiate operations in Summer 2008 selling sunflower oil into food markets and biodiesel for fuel, as well as producing its own renewable heat by burning sunflower hulls and glycerine. Slowly moving into production and integration of biodiesel into fuel markets will permit us to refine the quality monitoring and control capabilities so critical in ensuring the long term success of the biodiesel industry.

Working in partnership with regional Colorado State University Extension offices, local governments, private businesses, and many others, SJB is now contracting for sunflower, safflower, and potentially canola oil seed production. Construction began in November 2007, equipment engineering and procurement is underway all toward initiation of operations in July 2008.
